About

Steven Thompson attended the California Institute of the Arts in the Character Animation program. While at CalArts he was hired by the Walt Disney Company and has worked there since 1994.

Steven spent the first half of his career working for Disney Animation Studios on films like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Tarzan, and The Emperor’s New Groove. In 2003 he transitioned to doing character design for DisneyToon Studios.

In 2005, Steven moved into product design for Disney Consumer Products and currently serves as a Principal Designer for The Disney Stores.

In this role, he works on projects ranging from classic film characters to the latest studio film releases. This includes designing the Disney “Sketchbook” Christmas ornaments, snow globes, toys, limited-edition collectibles, and artwork for the “Disney Designer Collection” line of dolls. Everything Steve works on starts with a drawing, helping to bring characters to life in fun and surprising ways.

Steven currently resides in Los Angeles with his husband Rick, and cat Kylie Meownogue.
